- Title
FASHION, GENDER AND CULTURAL ANXIETY IN ITALIAN BAROQUE LITERATURE.
- Abstract
This article focuses on the treatment of clothing and fashion in 17th century Italian satire and poetry, with references to "The Antisatira" by Arcangela Tarabotti and "De la carozza da nolo. Ovvero del vestire e usanze della moda" by Agostino Lampugnani. The author asserts that clothing only acquires meaning through the personal experiences of the wearer. The use of clothing in literature to emphasize emotion, narrative, and historical context, is also discussed.
