Studies the detrimental influence of acute cortisone administration on the retrieval of long-term declarative memory in humans. Administration of placebo and cortisone to healthy male and female humans; Similarity of cortisol levels after the pharmacological treatment with that induced by major psychological stress; Indication that cortisone impairs free recall of verbal material.
