- Abstract
The present study is the first to evaluate the determinants of the PoS measured by oxygen gradient ektacytometry, taking into account the affinity of Hb to oxygen. Recently, a novel ektacytometry method has been developed in the context of sickle cell anaemia (SCA) to investigate the changes in the deformability of red blood cells (RBCs) exposed to an oxygen gradient (i.e., oxygenscan).1-3 Oxygenscan consists of measuring RBC deformability at a constant shear stress while decreasing the oxygen partial pressure (pO SB 2 sb ).
