- Abstract
Shelley Lowenstein is an artist who specializes in translating complex ideas into approachable and digestible forms. Before becoming an artist, she worked in educational technology, editing television shows for National Geographic and Discovery Channel. Lowenstein's paintings tell stories of people in motion, inviting viewers to wonder about the transient lives of strangers. After her daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Lowenstein began using her talent for simplifying dense science through art to bring attention to the biology of diabetes. She focuses on abstract paintings that bring an emotional depth to the subject and recently learned how to animate her paintings to reach a wider audience.
