- Title
INTERCHURCH MARRIAGE -- CONJUGAL AND ECCLESIAL COMMUNION IN THE DOMESTIC CHURCH.
- Authors
Roi, Thomas Knieps-Port Le
- Abstract
The author argues that applying the concept of "domestic church" to inter-church couples would give interchurch families an ecclesial status with the Roman Catholic Church and thereby enable them to become legitimate builders of Christian unity. This approach should prevail over the current understanding that interprets interchurch marriages along the same lines as the Catholic Church understands its relationship with non-Catholic churches: as real but imperfect communion. If one were to give primacy to an experiential approach over the institutional one now operative in the Catholic Church, it would mean that interchurch marriages would not primarily be viewed as victims of divisions but as foretastes of reunion.
