- Abstract
The author reflects on the past, present and future coal mining life in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia by using the Acadian, Irish, Atlantic, country and gospel music that influenced his life. He captures and underlines the interrelationship between traditional music and the art of helping others. His love of traditional music has influenced his choice of career in social works and his use of music therapeutically within his social work practice. He notes that many of his composition relate to the people of the Maritimes.
