Abstract
The author focuses on the legacy of Marius Barbeau, founder of the Canadian Folk Music Society, in the preservation and promotion of Canadian folk music and lore. He reflects on Barbeau's thoughts about Canadian identity and folkloristic traditions in the country. Also provided is a list of some of the seminal works of Barbeau including "Folk songs of French Canada" and "Romancero du Canada."
