- Abstract
The article discusses the highlights of a symposium in French composer Charles Tournemire held on February 1-3, 2012 in South Miami, Florida. The conference was attended by performers and scholars from across the U.S. and five foreign countries. It aims to explore the aesthetic, liturgical, and compositional principles of Tournemire's "L'Orgue Mystique," the implications of the work for modern composition by Gregorian Chant, the role of modern compositions and the organ in the Catholic liturgy.
