- Abstract
This essay presents an exploration into the themes of manifest destiny and religious-political fundamentalism within various works by 20th century American playwrights. Multiple themes addressed in response to these driving factors are explored, highlighting the negative social consequences they bring about, such as division. Authors discussed include Eugene O'Neill, Arthur Miller, and Tennessee Williams.
