Authors

Zanti, Tony

Abstract

The article discusses the effects and threats of Unintentional Discharge of a firearm. It is a term which is designed to reflect a bonafide mechanical malfunction from modern firearms. It points out that it is caused by rare mechanical failure in the firearm and can be experienced without embarrassment. Meanwhile, Negligent Discharge puts emphasis on culpability when the shooter has his index finger on the trigger and pulled it though its is unintentional. It explains that the condition in which the operator acts and refers to the Tactical Traffic Lights concept should be considered in differentiating Negligent Discharge and Unintentional Discharge.
