- Abstract
This paper presents a low-profile self-hexplexing substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW)-based cavity-backed antenna for multiband wireless communication systems. The antenna is loaded with six V-shaped slots of different sizes on each triangular patch to excite six frequencies (1.92 GHz, 2.14 GHz, 2.32 GHz, 2.44 GHz, 2.68 GHz, and 2.88 GHz). The slots decrease the size of the antenna, and isolation of more than 32 dB is obtained between the ports. The gain of the antenna is 2.49 dB, 3.73 dB, 4.2 dB, 3.48 dB, 3.7 dB, and 4.6 dB at 1.92 GHz, 2.14 GHz, 2.32 GHz, 2.44 GHz, 2.68 GHz, and 2.88 GHz, respectively. The antenna offers high gain and a unidirectional radiation pattern, making it ideal for use in a multiband device. It decreases the overall size of the antenna system by eliminating the need for a multiplexer, as in a typical multiport device.
