- Abstract
Here we report a novel salicylaldehyde‐based Schiff‐base‐functionalized polymeric hydrogel (SSb‐hydrogel) with excellent stretchability, temperature responsiveness, self‐healing property, and adjustable fluorescence intensity. The SSb‐hydrogel was obtained by a one‐pot micellar copolymerization of acrylamide (AAm), N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM), and a hydrophobic cross‐linking agent (AVIMP). The three‐dimensional network of SSb‐hydrogel was formed by the chemical cross‐linking of AVIMP and the hydrophobic interaction between AVIMP molecules. The SSb‐hydrogel was able to stretch up to 1900% of its original length without fracture, and its transparency was adjustable by temperature. This hydrogel also had tunable fluorescence controlled by Zn2+/EDTA, and its fluorescence increased by 640% with 0.1 M Zn2+. Its fluorescence property enabled us to write on its surface repeatedly. This highly stretchable and multifunctional SSb‐hydrogel has potential applications in temperature‐sensitive materials, information transmission, and soft sensors.
