- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 42-year-old man suffering from mutilation and skin avulsion of the right thumb. X-ray imaging showed Wassel type IV congenital duplication of the thumbs. A surgical plan was designed to reconstruct the patient's right thumb by using the duplicated left thumb. The reconstruction surgery involved removal of the duplicated left thumb, reserving the digital arteries and dorsal digital vein for transplantation, and excision of the radial duplicated thumb.
