- Authors
Allsop, James
- Abstract
The article presents the text of a lecture in memory and honor of the Honorable Justice Richard Cooper about Australian admiralty and maritime law. The author seeks to give a perspective on the admiralty and maritime grant in Section 76(iii) of the Australian Constitution and to emphasize the rich and diverse sources of such a branch of the general law. The article also discusses the need for the nature and development of Australian maritime law to be assessed and approached by reference to Australia as a fully independent member of the community of nations.
