- Title
Axonal transport: SUMmOned back to the nucleus.
- Authors
Flight, Monica Hoyos
- Abstract
The article explores the study "Sumoylation in Axons Triggers Retrograde Transport of the RNA Binding Protein La," by E. A. van Niekerk and colleagues. In this paper, researchers demonstrate that the microtubule protein dynein interacts with sumoylated La but not with motor protein kinesin, through immunofluorescence and immunoprecipitates from lysates prepared from the axons of dorsal root ganglion neurons. This finding indicates that sumoylation is required for La' interaction with dynein.
