- Abstract
At present, the design check mainly focuses on fatigue life and contact stress of hub ball bearings, while there is little research on lateral impact resistance of the bearings. There is no unified standard for definition of lateral impact resistance of the bearings by OEMs and bearing manufacturers. Based on design experience of OEMs and ISO 7141:2022, combining with data on after sales quality problems of the bearings, the lateral impact resistance of the bearings is studied, and several recommended values for design of the bearings are given; the reserve coefficient of lateral static strength being 5, the critical speed of lateral dynamic impact resistance of the bearings being 13.5 km/h, and the longitudinal speed of lateral impact resistance of vehicle being 60 km/h. These parameter values can be used as one of design criteria for lateral impact resistance of the bearings, improving the design efficiency and ensuring the design quality.
