- Title
Mozambique: Ferry Disaster.
- Abstract
On April 8th, an overloaded makeshift ferry boat capsized off the northern coast of Mozambique, resulting in the death of at least 98 people. The boat, which was carrying around 130 passengers, encountered difficulties as it was heading towards an island off Nampula province. The tragedy occurred after misinformation about cholera caused panic, leading many individuals, including children, to attempt to escape the mainland. The government has denied allegations of a slow response and has initiated an investigation into the incident.
