- Abstract
Objective: to identify potential drug interactions in medical records of patients in a hospital and maternity hospital in a Brazilian municipality. Methods: retrospective documentary study with a quantitative approach, carried out between January and June 2017, in a philanthropic hospital in the State of Ceará, Brazil. The documentary source was the medical records of 167 patients. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with absolute and relative frequency. Potential drug interactions were verified using the Micromedex System. Results: of 167 medical records, 80 (48%) were male and 87 (52%) female. It was identified that 24 of the drug interactions were "greater potentials", present mainly in the association of the following drugs: dipyrone / ibuprofen, dipyrone / prednisone, dipyrone / diclofenac. Conclusion: the study shows the need for greater caution when prescribing dipyrone with other drugs, given its greater involvement in potential drug interactions.
