- Abstract
This article reports on the first case of quinone outside inhibitor (QoI) resistance in Plasmopara viticola, the fungus that causes grape downy mildew, in the state of Karnataka in India. The study analyzed 41 samples of downy mildew collected from grapevine growing districts in Karnataka and found that 34 of the isolates exhibited resistance to QoI fungicides. The resistance was associated with a mutation in the cytochrome b gene. This finding highlights the need for continued monitoring of fungicide resistance in P. viticola populations to ensure effective disease management.
