- Abstract
The article reflects on the contributions of the "Handbook of North American Indians: Northeast," volume 15, to history, ethnohistory, ethnology, and archaeology 40 years after it was published in 1978. The book addressed the origins of the Algonquians and Iroquoians. The handbook also emphasized on artifact types, their chronological placement and spatial distribution. After its publication, new regional syntheses on the archaeology of Delaware, Maine, and other states were added.
