- Abstract
The article suggests that symptom cluster research could prove to be a better tool in cancer patient symptom management. Symptom clusters are defined as three or more symptoms that occur together and are related to each other. Symptoms occurring in clusters are not new issues for patients with cancer. In fact, patients with cancer commonly have co-occurring symptoms, such as fatigue, decreased appetite, pain, depression, and anxiety but researchers have acknowledged this indirectly over the years when they discussed holistic approaches to patient care.
