- Title
Russia and Lessons for the Post-Cold War World.
- Authors
Sommers, J. D.
- Abstract
The article discusses the missed opportunities and mistakes made by the United States in its relationship with Russia after the Cold War. It highlights how the US failed to support Russia's economic transition and did not treat it as an equal partner in matters of national security, particularly regarding NATO expansion. These actions, along with others, have led to the current strained relations between the two countries. The article argues that the US should acknowledge past mistakes and work towards restoring détente with Russia in order to maintain its leadership in the post-Cold War world.
