HABITAT-SPECIFIC RECOVERY OF SHALLOW SUBTIDAL COMMUNITIES FOLLOWING THE EXXON VALDEZ OIL SPILL.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article examines the impacts of the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska on kelp and eelgrass communities, and examines the recovery of these communities years after the spill. Results showed the effects more evident in eelgrass than in kelp habitats, while recovery was slower in eelgrass than in kelp. The spill had higher concentrations of total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and more groups of organisms were impacted.
