- Abstract
The testimony of a woman born in Leiva, victim of banishment, is the empirical evidence of how the context of armed conflict has deteriorated in recent years in the northeast of Nariño. The historical influence of the guerrillas during eighties and nineties, the dominance of paramilitaries between 2000 and 2006, has been followed by a narcoparamilitary reconfiguration that persists. Leiva is a territory of hard access, which characterizes by a steep topography and a relative proximity to several waterways, which make it a municipality coveted by illegal armed groups, in a zone that the politic of Democratic Security has included in the Consolidation Plan. Meanwhile an alarming increase of the coca crop has occurred in Nariño, department with the largest area of planted hectares in Colombia during the period 2006 to 2009. This has led to an alarming humanitarian crisis, reflected for example in the vast number of victims of forced displacement. The story of one of these victims propels the creation of this article, which seeks to rebuild her life trajectory, and through their testimony, result of several interviews, learn firsthand the impacts of armed conflict in Leiva.
