- Abstract
Solubility is the phenomenon of dissolution of solid in the liquid phase to give a homogenous system. Solubility is one of the important parameter to achieve desired concentration of drug in systemic circulation for pharmacological response to be show. Poorly water soluble drug often require high doses in order to reach therapeutic plasma concentration after oral administration. Low aqueous solubility is the major problem encountered with formulation development of new entities. Currently only 8%of new drug candidates have both high solubility and permeability. Because of solubility problem of many drug the bioavailability of then gets affected and hence solubility enhancement become necessary. It is now possible that to increase the solubility of poorly soluble drugs with help of various techniques such as physical method and chemical method.
