- Abstract
The article reports on the transient receptor potential (TRP)M1 cation channel, a component of the metabrotopic glutamate receptor 6 (mGluR6) signal transduction pathway in vertebrates. It states that the visual pathway works through TRPM1-mediated deactivation of mGluR6 signal transduction. It emphasizes that mutation of the TRPM1 causes congenital stationary night blindness (CSNB). However, it tells that it is not yet clear whether TRPM1 is the only component of the mGluR6 ion channel.
