Was heißt „Renaissance der Bildung“? Ein Kommentar.

- Abstract
In recent years, the disillusionment caused by the limitations of evidence-based control has led to a revival of the interest in the concept of education as a meaningful guiding principle of pedagogical institutions. In this context, it has become apparent that – despite its inevitable blurriness – this concept is neither expendable nor substitutable because it addresses specific forms of experience made by men in the world. Thus, “Bildung" – education – is not a peculiarity of pedagogical discourse in the German language, alone; rather, it may be found as an interpretive variant of “education" or as a foreign word in the English language, as well. In the final part, the author sketches unsolved problems apparent in the current renaissance of education and issues to be addressed by future research and theory formation.
