- Abstract
The research work in this paper is made on the surface quality of the profiles after milling phase, a subject less studied by the researchers. Two species of wood with different anatomical structure were analyzed: oak and beech wood. The surface quality of the profiles was quantitatively assessed by measuring the roughness with light beam technique on two different directions: perpendicular and parallel to the wood grains, respectively. The following conclusions resulted: anatomical structure and processing parameters are the two factors which have influence on the roughness of the wooden profiles obtained by milling process. It was concluded also that the proper measuring method of the profiles roughness is along the grain direction.
