- Title
Meiosis Is Not Gender Neutral.
- Authors
GORELICK, ROOT
- Abstract
The author discusses male-centric bias in the discussion of the concept of meiosis in biology textbooks, noting the omission of any description of the meiotic process in female organisms in most resources. He argues that the study of female meiosis, including halting of meiosis and asymmetry of meiosis products, provides a significant example of sex-specific variation. He also focuses on the need to eliminate gender bias in order to reconcile scientific epistemology with feminist theory.
