- Title
Antepartum Depression -- Screening and Treatment.
- Authors
Daniels, Victoria
- Abstract
Pregnancy can be one of the most joyous times in a woman's life; however, there are women who suffer from depression during this special time. Many of these women were depressed before they became pregnant, while others may develop this disorder during their pregnancy. Too often, these women are not properly screened, and their depression is either misdiagnosed or overlooked. Proper screening is imperative so that those at risk can be identified and treatment options explored. The childbirth educator is in a key position to screen and refer for further assessment and treatment.
