The author discusses the changes in childbirth education in Texas from 1983 to 2000. During the 1980s, the Prepared Childbirth series consisted of eight classes which focus on pregnancy and birth, breastfeeding and infant care. Class outlines were rewritten during the 1990s to meet the demands of clients who wanted shorter childbirth classes. By the year 2000, the medical intervention and cesarean section class was well attended by clients.
