- Abstract
The paper presents the results of field experiments on the impact of innovative foliar fertilizer produced from an alternative source of phosphorus (calcinated bone waste) on the size and quality of sugar beet harvest. Field trials were conducted at 7 sites in Poland with different soil and climatic conditions. The application of the foliar fertilizer affected the growth of sugar beet plants in the early stages of development, as well as the final sugar content and white sugar production. The average yield of sugar beet root fertilized with the tested fertilizer was 74.3 t ha-1 and was 1.7 t higher than in controls in which only microelement fertilizers were used. The tested foliar fertilizer also caused an increase in the yield of technological white sugar production, which was 1.6 t ha-1 higher than the control sample. This fertilizer also influences the sugar beet plant resistance during periods of more intense cercospora; the plants treated with the foliar fertilizer were less infected by the disease.
