MIXING, SEPARATION, AND VIOLENCE IN URBAN SPACES AND THE RURAL FRONTIER IN PALESTINE.
- Authors
Beinin, Joel
- Abstract
The article presents information on mixing, separation, and violence in urban spaces and the rural frontier in Palestine. It argues that the flight of the Zionist settlement project comprehends a transition from urban coexistence and rural violence toward increasing urban violence. Also discussed is the crucial role of violence in the Zionist project described by philosopher Ariella Azoulay in her photo essay about Palestine/Israel. She argues that establishing the Israel entailed constitutive violence.
