- Abstract
The article presents a comparative historical analysis of power institutions, reforms, and elites in Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan in the 1920-1930s. Topics include formation of political elites in Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan, changes in Soviet Central Asia, and social and political dependency of Central and Inner Asia from Russia. The Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party (MPRP), collectivization of Kyrgyz and Mongolian nomads, and Soviet policy against Islamic institutions are also discussed.
