- Authors
CAPPELL, EZRA
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novel "The Naked and the Dead," by Norman Mailer is presented. It explores how Mailer and fellow 20th century American writer Ernest Hemingway were united in their representation of Jewish characters through their novels. In his novel, "The Sun Also Rises," Hemingway created the Jewish character Robert Cohn. Meanwhile, in "The Naked and the Dead," Mailer featured the Jewish soldiers Roth and Goldstein.
