- Abstract
In this article, Bernd Nissen explores the concepts of time and timelessness in psychoanalytic terms. He draws from the works of Freud, Winnicott, and Bion to describe how time-bound and timeless states of mind can converge in the context of the therapeutic relationship. Nissen introduces several key terms, such as "presence moment" and "sublation," to explain this process. He also presents a time model based on Bion's theory of transformations, which allows for the transformation of pre-conceptual states of mind into new, psychically grounded experiences. While Nissen's model does not fully encompass Jung's understanding of time, it offers an interesting perspective on bridging time and timelessness in the psyche.
