- Abstract
This article discusses the condition of gastroparesis, which is characterized by delayed gastric emptying without mechanical obstruction. The limited treatment options for gastroparesis have led to the exploration of interventions such as gastric electrical stimulation (GES), although the mechanism of action is still unknown. The study examined the differences between cyclic and non-cyclic gastrointestinal symptom patterns in patients with gastroparesis. The results showed that patients with the cyclic form of gastroparesis had a lower response to GES and a higher prevalence of diabetes. The study also highlighted the need for alternative outcome measures and diagnostic criteria for gastroduodenal disorders.
