- Abstract
The article provides information on a study which investigated the risk for hospitalization for an affective disorder among the male partners of women with breast cancer in Denmark. A review of the related literature on the psychological effect of cancer is offered. It describes the methods utilized in the study. Findings showed that men whose partner died following breast cancer had an increased risk for an affective disorder compared with men whose partner survived breast cancer.
