- Abstract
The article focuses on the long-term implementation of the Child and Adolescent Trial for Cardiovascular Health (CATCH) education program in the U.S. Ninety-six elementary schools in four regions were subjected to a randomized trial to test the effectiveness of the CATCH program. Assessment of 56 former intervention schools (FI), 20 selected former control schools (FC) and 12 selected unexposed control schools (UC) were undertaken 5 years after intervention. Findings reveal that FC and UC schools manifested moderate to vigorous activity while FI schools surpassed them during PE lesson time.
