Abstract
The article analyzes the significance of purchasing assets at fire-sale prices to surviving banks during global financial crisis. It also examines the portfolio choice of banks increasing their profits in the presence of fire sales that are derived in an equilibrium setup of the banking industry. The article also analyzes the impact of entry of outsiders purchasing the assets during economic downturn.
