This paper examines the depiction of spousal abuse in Egyptian films in the first half decade of the third Millennium. Eighteen women-centred films, selected from a random comprehensive list of films produced in the years from 1999-2003, form the basis of the data. The absence of physical spousal abuse depiction in the sample of eighteen movies is explained and its impact is discussed.
