The article explores poverty in Asia as of 2012. Pressure of population growth on scarce resources poor rural households that tend to have larger families and limited access to credit, equipment and technology are some of the reasons for rural poverty in Asia. While Southeast Asia is among the fastest growing regions in the world, it is also home to the largest concentration of people living in poverty like that in Cambodia which has a poverty rate of 36.1%.
