- Abstract
The article presents an examination into the experiences of Dutch Mormons in regard to church architecture and their perceptions of sacred space. Introductory details are given noting the distinctions within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regarding meeting houses and temples. The history of the temple construction project in Zoetermeer, Netherlands in 2002 is reviewed. The connections between hierarchy and the sacred in Mormonism are discussed. The concept of routinizing the sacred through the creation of local temples is also examined.
