- Abstract
The author expresses her views on the role of information and communications technology (ICT) in economic development and poverty reduction in 2010. Results of a study that was conducted in 113 nations revealed that a one-percent growth in Internet connectivity could lead to a 0.03-percent growth in gross domestic product (GDP). The author also discusses a research project funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and conducted in several Eastern African nations including Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
