- Abstract
The article presents information on the International Seabed Authority, availability of mineral resources in the ocean floor around the world, and environmental aspects of deep sea mining and regulations regarding access to these resources. It discusses the presence of minerals including Copper, Nickel and Manganese globally and outcomes of the United Nations Law of the Sea conferences. The stance the U.S. adopted in these conferences are discussed. The author mentions that the U.S. is the only country outside the Convention on the International Sea bed.
