- Title
THE ACCEPTABILITY OF PHYSICAL SCIENCE AS A COLLEGE-ENTRANCE UNIT.
- Authors
Carleton, Robert H.
- Abstract
The article reports on a survey that was carried out to determine whether a high school course in physical science could be granted entrance credit by various universities and colleges in the U.S. This question was put up to 95 odd educational institutions in the U.S. Almost all colleges approved the proposal. While many colleges sent replies expressing the approval and enthusiastic endorsement of the proposal, only few of these colleges stated that the credit would be granted with some reservations. Some of the college officials said that if an applicant has had a college preparatory course, they would accept his/her admission. The findings also suggest that the specific subjects a student takes in high school is of far less importance than what he does with those subjects when he takes them.
