- Abstract
The article reports that the technical-economic indices of rolled-product manufacturing depend to a large extent on the quality of the rolls that are used. This means that the condition of the rolls must be checked while they are in use. However, most rolls are subjected only to visual inspection and or manual ultrasonic inspection during service. The problem is complicated by the fact that there is currently no single standard that governs the inspection of rolling-mill rolls by nondestructive methods.
