- Abstract
The aim of this study is to implement product development with Quality Function Deployment (QFD) in an R&D center operating in the construction sector. For this purpose, it has been revealed how the epoxy filler gel used for the consolidation of marble can be developed by using KFG in line with customer requests. At the beginning of this study, a quality team was formed with the participation of engineers, technicians, and other employees working in the company's R&D center. A house of quality was created and a QFD application was conducted through the workshop held with quality team. According to the quality house, the first three most important customer requirements are (1) the gel must not freeze before use, (2) the gel must stay in the apparatus used during application to a floor, and (3) the B component must be homogeneous in terms of irrigation, that is, the product must not be very fluid. The three most important technical requirements that were decided to be improved to meet customer demands; production by heating, creating quality control and using different sizes of packaging. The contribution of the study to the literature is that the QFD method is used for the gel production process in a construction company. In this study, for the first time, the use of the QFD method in the gel production process is presented step by step. Furthermore, it enriches the applications of QFD in the field of construction, which is limited in the literature.
