- Abstract
This article, published in the Turkish Archives of Pediatrics, presents a rare case report of a child who experienced recurrent food-induced anaphylaxis with wheat, sesame, and corn. The child had no history of anaphylaxis before the age of 1 but developed severe allergic reactions to these foods until the age of 2. The article discusses the diagnostic tests conducted, including skin prick tests and specific serum-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) determinations, which confirmed the allergies. The authors highlight the importance of component-resolved diagnosis in accurately identifying allergens and differentiating between cross-reactivity and true sensitivity. The article emphasizes the potential for severe and unexpected reactions due to allergens from the 2S albumin or nonspecific lipid transfer protein families found in wheat, sesame, and corn.
