- Abstract
The main goal of teaching Bulgarian to foreign medical students is to achieve communicative competence, ie. to create skills for language communication in a medical clinic, related to the study of clinical specialties. The need for direct communication with patients in real environment in Bulgarian hospitals is the starting point in selection of lexical material and grammatical structures included in the textbooks. The author of the article offers a module of exercises, the aim of which is correct mastering of prepositions in the Bulgarian language at an early stage of learning /A1-A2/. The emphasis is on the polysemantic preposition of. Its use is associated with the expression of different types of grammatical relations and students "face" a number of language cases The observations on the function of the preposition of in the Bulgarian language are made in comparison with the Greek language. The ability to see common features in these two languages and to highlight specific differences allows medical students to successfully master certain grammatical structures that underlie the everyday use of the language and provide optimal upgrading of knowledge in the next stage of learning. The establishment of the preposition of at adverbial complement and possessive constructions is the most distinctive feature of Bulgarian analytics. Unlike the Greek language, in which possessiveness is expressed synthetically /through case constructions /, in the Bulgarian language the preposition of is one of the possibilities for denoting possession. A characteristic syntactic feature of a scientific text is the prepositional combinations and the preposition does not have the highest frequency / appearance of the first symptoms, inflammation of the iris, frequency of the disease, liver damage, validation of vaccines, taking anamnesis, etc. The analysis of the types of errors related to the unmotivated use of the "problematic" preposition, its omission or its incorrect replacement with other prepositions, allows the creation of a module of purposeful exercises for overcoming them. In this way it becomes possible to "transfer" model communication in a classroom in correct /free/ communication with real patients and to describe a real clinical picture. The author is convinced that the proposed exercises would help medical students in mastering the Bulgarian language for medical purposes.
